Americans in Australia: 2020 has been a challenging year for Americans and Australians alike, and July 4th celebrations this year are likely to be a little different… especially for those celebrating overseas.
As a way to demonstrate the diversity and shared humanity of the U.S. community here in Australia – plus to hear a little of what everyone is going through right now – we’re asking the question: What are you thinking about this July 4th?
Send us a 20-second video shot on your smartphone that begins with these words: “On July 4th this year, I’ll be thinking about…”, and share what’s on your mind as we head into our national day.
We’ll review the responses and share a selection of shots in a video compilation on social media on July 4th as a way to recognize the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the American community here in Australia.
Specifics: Keep videos short (20 seconds or less) and shoot in portrait orientation on your smartphone – preferably in a well-lit outdoor location. Send your video by COB June 29th to webcanb@gmail.com with the subject line ‘What I’m thinking about on July 4th’. And have a safe and happy July 4th!
