Location:  Australia: South Coast of New South Wales

Event:  Local authorities have ordered a tourist leave zone on the South Coast of the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW). Authorities predict widespread Extreme Fire Danger for the South Coast of NSW, from Batemans Bay to the Victorian border, starting this Saturday, January 4, 2020. 

Actions to Take:

  • If you are holidaying on the South Coast, particularly in the general area from Batemans Bay to the Victorian border as shown on the map hereyou need to leave before this Saturday.
  • If you are planning on visiting the South Coast this weekend, do not travel, per the advice of Australian authorities, and make alternate arrangements.   • Bushfires are creating smoky conditions across much of New South Wales, Queensland, the ACT and Victoria that may continue for some time. Smoke can affect people’s health and it is important for everyone to reduce exposure.
  • Check the air quality for your region and subscribe to updates using the Air Quality Index (AQI) then check AQI and activity guide for what the AQI means.
