ACS Outreach Program

The U.S. Consulates General in Australia periodically travel to cities where there is no permanent consular presence to provide citizenship services for U.S. citizens. During ACS outreach trips, we accept:

  • U.S. passport applications which require an in-person appearance;
  • applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA)
How does the ACS outreach work?

Applicants wishing to participate in an ACS outreach must first register their interest by emailing the U.S. Consulate General (see below), requesting to be placed on a waiting list. Once the Consulate starts to prepare an outreach visit, registrants will be notified by email, and provided with outreach-specific instructions to submit a completed application, along with the required supporting documents (originals) and fees by a specified deadline. Once our office receives an application and supporting documents, it will be reviewed and you will be notified if further information is required. Closer to the date of the outreach, you will receive an email confirming your appointment time and location, so you can meet with us during our outreach to finalize the applications. Following our outreach visit, we will return to the Consulate to process the applications. CRBAs and passports will be issued generally within 2-3 weeks.

How do you stay updated on upcoming ACS outreaches?

We encourage you to check our website periodically for the most up-to-date information. Although you may have registered to be placed on a waiting list, the onus is upon each individual to ensure that you are included in the appropriate outreach.

Are you traveling?

If you or your family has fixed future travel plans, we encourage you to plan accordingly to maximize your ability to participate in our ACS outreach program. Should our intended visit dates not fit with your travel schedule, you also have the option of submitting the applications in person at the Consulate General serving your district to ensure you have a valid passport for your travels.
