Review Loss of Citizenship

Former U.S. citizens who previously lost their U.S. citizenship may request to have their case reconsidered in light of the 1990 Administrative Standard of Evidence (see Dual Nationality). Each case will be reviewed on its own merits, taking into consideration, for example, statements made by the person at the time of the potentially expatriating act(s). To request a reconsideration of your case, a written request should be made to:

Provide the following information: 

  1. Full names, including present and former names
  2. Date and place of birth
  3. Address and day-time contact telephone numbers
  4. Reasons for requesting review of your loss of nationality
  5. Explain the reasons/circumstances for the expatriating acts, and your intent towards U.S. citizenship at the time of the expatriating act(s).

These cases may take 4 to 6 months to process.
