Waivers Of The Interview Requirement For Certain Nonimmigrant Visas
Many visa applicants may be eligible to mail their application in without an in-person interview. Please review instructions on applying for a visa without an interview. Note the “Apply by Mail Standard” section reviews mail-in options for those renewing prior visas in the same category as well as for those applicants under 14 years old and 80 years of age or older. We now also have authority to waive interviews for many other travelers who have travelled to the United States before in a different category from which they are intending to travel now. These options are described under “Apply by Mail Expansion.”
