Event:  The Australian Department of Health has confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia.  Please see the Australian Department of Health’s website for statistics that are updated daily.

The U.S. Mission to Australia will be sending a daily update to ensure all U.S. citizens in Australia have the latest information about COVID-19 and local conditions.  See the Embassy webpage on COVID-19 for more comprehensive information.

The government of Western Australia (WA) has announced the temporary closure of the Western Australian border and tighter restrictions for the Kimberly region.  As of 11:59 pm on Sunday, April 5, 2020, the state border will be closed.  There are also restrictions on travel within WA.  For further details and information about exemptions, please see the WA website.

U.S. citizens are encouraged to regularly visit the website each state or territory’s government (New South WalesAustralian Capital Territory, Northern TerritoryQueenslandSouth AustraliaTasmaniaVictoria, and  Western Australia) for information on the latest measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Department of State issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory for COVID-19.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Travel Notice for Australia.
