Location: Hunter and Upper Hunter Region of New South Wales
Event: The New South Wales government has today announced the lockdown of 8 local government areas (LGAs) in the Hunter and Upper Hunter regions, including Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens, Cessnock, Dungog, Singleton and Muswellbrook from 5:00 PM today, August 5, until at least 12:01 AM on Friday, August 13, 2021. Residents in these areas are subject to the same enhanced restrictions as the 8 LGA’s of concern in Greater Sydney. You must stay at home unless you have a reasonable excuse.
The U.S. Consulate General in Sydney remains closed for routine in-person consular services, including passport, consular report of birth abroad, notarial, loss of nationality, and visa applications during the period of the lockdown order. U.S. citizens in need of critical emergency services should contact SydneyACS@state.gov.
