The U.S. Government is offering the opportunity for experienced university faculty, scholars, and other related professionals to attend one of six fully funded six-week seminars on areas of study of the United States, commencing Mid – 2023.

Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars (SUSIs) are intensive post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions. Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars will take place at various colleges, universities, and academic institutions throughout the United States over the course of six weeks beginning in or after June 2023. Should health, safety and travel conditions continue to pose significant challenges, the programs will pivot to a modified virtual format.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced scholars and professionals with little or no prior experience in the United States whose academic institution is seeking to introduce aspects of U.S. studies into its curriculum, to develop new courses on the seminar subject, to enhance and update existing courses on the United States, or to offer specialized seminars/workshops for education professionals in U.S. Studies.

The programs include a four-week residency at a host campus, and if possible, a two-week study tour to other U.S. venues. The U.S. Department of State will pay all costs associated with the program, including international travel and allowances.
