Required Documents
You are required to submit the following documents in support of your visa application. If your travel is urgent, within 7 business days, please refer to the Urgent Travel section further below under Additional Information.

Passport
Your Regular, Official, or Diplomatic must be valid and undamaged. Please also submit previous passport(s) that contain a valid official visa. A new visa will not be issued to you until we receive the passport (valid or expired) containing the valid visa(s). The visa(s) must be physically cancelled or reported as lost/stolen.
All our photo policies apply to both adults and children under age 16. We have a few exceptions to our photo policies for infants. If the photo upload fails, you must submit one (1) printed photo in the format explained in the photograph requirements.
Diplomatic Note / TPN
- International Organization Representatives: Submit a Formal Request Letter or Cable endorsed by the appropriate International Organization (e.g., UN, World Bank, IMF).
- Locally Engaged Staff: Submit a Formal Request Letter endorsed by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you will be employed.
- Foreign Government Representatives: Submit a Formal Request Letter endorsed by a Foreign Government’s Embassy or Consulate (other than Australia or the U.S)
This is to be used for the return of your passport and U.S. visa.
Envelopes/satchels from courier services/companies other than Australia Post will not be accepted.

In addition to the required documents listed above, spouses must include a copy of their Marriage Certificate and children must include a copy of their Birth Certificate from the applicable Court or Registrar offices of the country where the marriage (or birth) occurred.
The certificate must bear an original seal of that issuing office.
Please note that the ceremonial marriage certificate that is signed on the day of the wedding is insufficient for nonimmigrant visa purposes
Urgent Travel
If you are traveling within the next seven business days, this is considered urgent travel. Using the contact details below, you are required to email the DS-160 confirmation page, Diplomatic Note, Biographic page of your passport to initiate the clearance process at the office you will be applying.
If your spouse and/or children are accompanying you, a scanned copy of your marriage certificate and child’s birth certificate must also be provided
Once you have emailed the scanned copies, you must mail them, including your physical passport and a self-addressed express post return envelope, to the Consulate for final processing. Please note: The visa is a physical sticker which will be placed in your passport. It is not issued electronically.
Group Travel
If you will be submitting a group of 20 or more applications, email the office you will be submitting these applications, including the travel date and number of applications expected in that group so we may advise you as to how these applications should be prepared and submitted.
